Pasta Zanmai

On a Friday after classes had been dismissed, the six of us went to Pasta Zanmai which is of Japanese origin to have a taste of their food.

The menu.

All of us already had our lunch earlier on that day, the only person who hadn’t is none other than our group representative, Rachel. And so, she ordered a set of food called "Chicken Teriyaki to Onsen Tamago Rice".

The cutlery was given in a little basket that contains wooden chopsticks, forks and spoons.

Green tea was served in a clay teapot and several cups were provided.

When the food arrived, we could smell a sweet scent coming from the Teriyaki chicken. It must be the famous Japanese Teriyaki sauce!

The Teriyaki chicken and rice came with two side dishes which are a bowl of Miso soup and a bowl of salad filled with fresh vegetables with a special type of sauce.

A partly-cooked egg also came with the Teriyaki chicken placed on top of the Japanese rice. However, according to Rachel, the egg was a little too raw for her liking. Perhaps the Japanese like it that way. The rice tasted good, because it was Japanese rice called Japonica, not like the usual type of rice we have every day on our menu. Rachel said the miso soup tasted good because of the salty taste with some seaweed and tofu in it. Miso soup is quite famous in Japan as it is a traditional Japanese food.

During the meal, we talked to each other and asked questions to know more about each group members. It was a round table, therefore it was easier for us to communicate.

Overall, it seemed like a pretty good restaurant to go to on occasional days or even just dinner with friends.
