The third location for our final food review is a dessert shop called
Hui Lau Shan. Hui Lau Shan is the Cantonese pronunciation for these 3 Mandarin
characters-许留山, which
is pronounced Xu Liu Shan in Mandarin.
The little shop is located in the middle of the wide walkway from the Orange Atrium to the Blue Atrium in Sunway Pyramid 2. It has a limited number of tables and chairs, but the environment is pretty simple and nice. Hence, this makes it look as if it is a cute, little dessert shop.
When we entered the shop, only three tables were occupied. Somehow, it seemed like 40% of the shop was already filled due to the small, confined space.
Once we opened the menus, most of the food is orangey-yellow in color, because most of the desserts are made out of mangoes. The sweet, scrumptious mango fruit that can be planted in the tropical weather of Malaysia.
The second bowl and the fourth bowl of dessert was ordered by Kay Kay, which is also something like the first bowl, but without coconut milk and red beans. It was more like a lighter mango dessert. Pieces of mangoes with little, sliced pieces of translucent jellies is dipped in a bowl of shaved ice that has a mango flavour.
The third bowl of dessert consists of three different types of desserts. One of them was a biscuit-like dessert, with a creamy layer in between two pieces of biscuits. As you munch, pieces of frozen mango could be found in that creamy layer. Another one was a small bowl of shaved ice that is mango-flavoured, with little round balls that are made out of dough, which are called "Tang Yuan" in Mandarin. The "Tang Yuan" was soft and chewy, and it matches with the mango-flavoured shaved ice.
The last one was a small bowl of mango-flavoured shaved ice, with pieces of mangoes and thinly-sliced coconut in it. The coconut was silky smooth, and they tasted really fresh.
The mangoes in every dessert were very fresh and sweet. None of them tasted sour and stale. These must be fresh mangoes with good quality.
Desserts are never wrong to have after a meal. The sweet taste of
desserts just feels perfect on our taste buds. If you’re looking for
some light dessert after a meal, Hui Lau Shan is definitely the place to go !
